Development of a Multi-Academy Hub in the Chew Valley

Parents and carers of Chew Valley School are invited to comment on a proposal regarding education in the Chew Valley. A number of schools have agreed to commence consultations about Academy conversion and joining a Multi-Academy Trust as a cluster.  The schools are Chew Valley Secondary School and Chew Magna, Bishop Sutton, East Harptree, Pensford, Stanton Drew, Ubley and Winford Primary Schools.  It is expected that Chew Valley School will join Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP) on February 1st 2018, with the primary schools joining later.

The current members of LSP are Gordano School and five primary phase schools in Portishead and Portbury.  A Backwell hub, which includes Backwell School and nine primary-phase schools in the Backwell area, will also join LSP.  It is anticipated that in time there may be more school hubs within the trust.

Parents and carers are invited to join in with the consultation process to learn more about Academy status and Lighthouse Schools Partnership on Wednesday 11th October at 6pm in the School Hall.  Brian Wibberley, Chair of Governors, Gareth Beynon, Headteacher, and Gary Lewis, CEO of Lighthouse Schools Partnership will give detailed presentations and answers any questions you might have. Final decisions will not be made until after the consultation has closed on 01 November 2017.
