GCSE Results Day
Staff and students at Chew Valley School are celebrating for the second time in just over a week as GCSE results are published.
New levels have been awarded for the first time in English and mathematics with 9 – 1 replacing the old grading system. It has been really pleasing to see a good number of students achieving across the board with some attaining the highest score of a 9. 70% of students gained a grade 9 – 4 in both subjects.
Headteacher, Gareth Beynon commented ‘ I am delighted to be able to again congratulate the students and their teachers on some well deserved examination results. The new regime of more challenging specifications with the withdrawal of coursework components makes the achievements particularly pleasing. The success is down to the sustained hard work and everyone should be very proud with many students balancing their studies with other commitments such as sport or extra-curricular activities which they carry out at a high level. We wish the students all the best as they embark on the next chapter of their education and we look forward to welcoming back many into our sixth form in September.’
