Chew Valley’s annual ‘Poetry by Heart’ contest took place on Wednesday 14th December. There were nine contestants (a record number) from Years 10 to 13 all of whom recited two poems by heart in front of an audience and a panel of judges made up of Mr Beynon, Mrs Gordon and our external judge, Peter Clifford, who is a well known local actor and internationally renowned magician. Many congratulations to all the students who took part in a really lovely evening of poetry. Special mention must go to Will Loosley who received the runner-up prize and to Corinne Bowen who was the overall winner. Corinne now goes on to the regional final and we wish her luck with this.
