Year 12 Biosciences Day

Year 12 scientists spend the day at Bath University on 28th June as part of the Science Department's Gifted and Talented provision. The day was led by Dr Momna Hejmadi, a lecturer and researcher in neurochemistry and was a great success with students extracting and visualising their own DNA. They also used gel electrophoresis to compare DNA fingerprints of different 'suspects' in a crime scene. In addition the students were taken by current University students on a tour of the impressive facilities at Bath University, a highlight of which was seeing Dai Greene in training on the track. Our students had plenty of opportunity to ask questions about university life...both social and academic!
