What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium (PP) is additional funding for publicly funded school in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged students of all abilities to close the gaps between them and their peers.

Eligibility for funding

Chew Valley School receives funding for students based on the following criteria set out by the DfE which may include one of the following:

• A student has been in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM) or has been previously registered as FSM at any point during the previous 6-years.
• A student who has been looked after for 1 day or more or left care under a special guardianship order, or a residence order (Child Looked After status; funding accessed via a Local Authority Virtual School Head).
• A student known to the school as being adopted within the United Kingdom.
• A student who has a parent serving in the armed forces (attracts a reduced sum from the DfE).

How to apply for funding?

Chew Valley School receives funding from the DfE via the Local Authority but if you believe your child is eligible for Free School Meals (see criteria at the following link) then please use the information at the following webpage to support this process through your local authority: https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals

By applying and registering your child this can increase the funding the school receives in order to support students eligible for the PP.
